TESTIMONIALS

“Kelly is our adopted daughter and a resident of Gordon Jones Terrace for nearly 15 years. We truly believe that these have been the best years of her life. When we see Kelly we always take her to lunch. After lunch she runs into the building and NEVER says goodbye-she is “home”. Thanks for what Gordon Jones Terrace has done and also a “tip of the hat” to Rolling Hills Progress Center.”

“We are so glad that Gordon Jones Terrace is open in Lanark, IL. Our daughter, Alison Miche, was one of the first to move there. To her, it is now her home; she just comes here (parents’ home) to visit. She is always busy enjoying the social aspects of the group. She loves living there, never ever wasn’t ready to go back. She is well cared for. We never have any qualms about traveling away to visit other family members or going overseas on trips, as we know Alison gets excellent care and attention by the staff at Gordon Jones Terrace.”

My daughter, Jennifer, joined the Havens House CILA family seventeen years ago, two weeks after her graduation from Rock Island High School. “Jenny” has cerebral palsy and is 38 years old.
Jenny has experienced so many social opportunities and work experiences since her move to Havens House.  I have seen Jenny spread her wings on so many levels.
The management and staff have been a joy not only to Jenny but also to me.  They are extraordinary in their caring, kindness and patience and are respectful not only to Jenny and Myself, but to all the residents and family members.

The entire staff at Hallam Terrace has done a terrific job taking care of my son (Kalani). They have shown dedication to their work that exceeds my expectations.  They exhibit a conscientious and caring attitude towards the residents and work hard to resolve any problems that arise. The home is always clean and well organized.

Our daughter, Paula, moved into Olson Terrace in April 1988 when it was brand new.  She was almost 21 years old.  It was very hard at first, but we all adjusted.  That adjustment was made easy because of caring staff and that continues to be the way it is. We feel so fortunate there is a facility like Olson Terrace for Paula to live and be independent and confident that she can do so many things for herself. Without living in an environment like Olson Terrace, Paula would not have friends like she does and the satisfaction she gets from being "on her own". We are very grateful to all the staff that they meet the needs of 16 individuals around the clock.  It gives us such peace of mind that she is in such a good place.

It was Donna’s choice to live in a group home. Donna has a friend who lives in one of the homes.  She is happy there and told Donna about it.  So, Donna had an overnight visit at Smith Square to see if she would like it.  She was very happy with her visit.  She asked if she could move in.  Within a weeks time Donna was calling it home.  She has lived there 17 years and still is happy there.

Jude lived at home for almost 40 years and we were concerned about who would take care of him when we were no longer able to.  Then Frances House built some group homes in Sterling.  There was a vacancy.  It was a hard decision to make but the right one.  We placed him in Casa Willis, a 16 bed facility for both men and women.  He was happy there.  He liked coming home, had lunch, saw his brother when they were here, watched a favorite movie- but was always happy to back to his other home.
He later moved into an 8 bed facility- The Willows.  It is a blessing to our family.  He is very happy.  The staff are caring and loving. It is a God send to our family.  Jude is very well cared for.  He is loved and he is happy.  He still comes home to visit and we couldn’t ask for more.  We appreciate all who work with him and are grateful to the people who have made these homes possible.
Sincerely,
Ann Kane

I would recommend the homes to anyone who was considering putting their loved one in a home. The homes I have been to have been clean and pleasant to be in, and the residents seem to enjoy themselves there. The staff seems to be caring and well liked by the residents. I know my daughter has blossomed a lot since being in the home, which has been 17 years.  She still wants to come home and when time to go back to her home she usually is ready to go back.

Karyn is very happy at Glenwood Villa.  When she gets tired of being out somewhere she asks to go home (Glenwood Villa).  She has made many good friends, something she never had before. She is given every opportunity to do those things she can for herself.  She gets good nutritious food and has many activities she does.  She is given good care and is always clean and appropriately dressed.

Our son Jon has been a resident of Freeport Terrace since it opened in 1988...and that is testimonial enough to what a wonderful home it is.  And, home it is to Jon.  He has a close family with the other folks who live there and also the staff.  We have truely been blessed with the Terrace and the care and caring staff involved with Jon. We can't imagine Jon living anywhere else.

Our son moved into Olson Terrace about 18 years ago. We have been very pleased with the experience he has had of being in the facility. It has given him the chance to be as independent as he is capable of being. He and his 15 friends (residents) that he lives with have experienced their lives together. They have bonded together into a family away from home. This is very gratifying to us as their parents and guardians.
The staff & RSD and director, have always been there to help find a solution to all the problems that come up. They give the residents special care for all their needs.
We are very thankful that we found Olson Terrace. A special place for a very special person, our son Jim!

We brought John French to Gordon Jones Terrace when both of his parents passed away. As family members or his, we have been so very happy for all of the care your family at Gordon Jones has given John. Your home is wonderful. You do such wonderful things for the people that live there. John has a wonderful family at Gordon Jones.

We are Claude and June, the parents of Sheri Kay.  We are happy to say she likes living at Smith Square, she has the best of two worlds. She says she likes living at Smith Square and she gets to do things with our family.  She also gets her medication right and seems to be well taken care of.

My son Kenny has resided at Robert Webb Terrace since it opened in April 2003.  The house itself is lovely and extremely well kept.  The experienced, dedicated, and hard working staff tends to the needs and comfort of the residents in a calm and structured environment.
The Resident Services Director directs the activity of the home with special expertise and sensible guidance.  The Administrator is a caring professional who is always willing to go the extra mile to assure the safety and contentment of the residents to the gratitude of their families.
The placement of my son at Robert Webb Terrace has proven to be a positive move.  It has provided him with a home where he feels loved and secure.

“With fear and trembling, we moved my brother, Andrew, to Ridge Terrace. However, we no longer have any regrets as the staff has always bent over backwards to help Andrew and his family with any questions or needs. They have been outstanding as they have helped my brother exceed to a new level of independence.”

I have a sister who lives at Kanthak House. She is mentally handicapped and gets excellent care.  They are showered every day. The home is spotless, as are their rooms.  They get hot meals, are taken to the doctor, dentist, and are given any medical treatment they need. I feel she is very happy and safe.
This is not a nursing home, it’s HOME to 16 special adults who need special people to care for them. I can’t say enough good things about this wonderful facility. (Named after a wonderful man, by the way.) Except thank God for them all.  What would become of our special children without Kanthak House and homes like them??
