TESTIMONIALS

Our sons, Jeff at Lincoln Terrace and Scott at Lawrence Place, have been residents of these two wonderful homes for several years.  We visit the homes quite often and are able to observe first hand the excellent care and attention they receive. The staff seems to know each individual and do their best to work with them in ways that benefit everyone in the home.  We have been there at mealtime and are very impressed with the well-balanced meals they serve and how the staff has taught them manners and to be considerate of one another. We are deeply grateful to the people who work with our sons day in and day out.  We see how much they care for all of the residents. At our age, it gives us great peace of mind to know Scott and Jeff will be safe in these homes when we are no longer here.
Our Sincere Thanks,

My brother, Chris, is a resident at Lincoln Terrace. My mother and I are his guardians and have been very pleased with care he has received.  Chris has the opportunity to go to the bank, which he has an account.  He uses his money that he earns at workshop and as a dishwasher at Lincoln College, to go shopping for clothes, CD & DVD’s, go to the movies and out to eat.  Chris and his friends have an opportunity to go on a vacation every 2 years. The staff takes him to his doctor’s appointments and they call us to keep us updated on his personal care. Chris also goes on outings to ball games, bowling, and dances.
Chris is very happy living at Lincoln Terrace.

I have been well pleased with each and every worker that I have had contact with over the phone and at the facility. I have been well pleased with the Q,... I can tell that he is dedicated to serving the needs of the residents, Steve is very happy there, and very contented. I do not ever wish Steve to transfer to another facility. I want him to stay there with you folks at Schultz House.

I am happy t o have the opportunity to write this letter about something so close to my heart. We are parents of a resident of Highview Terrace Group Home in Paris, IL. He has resided there for 21 years. Highview has become an extended family for a11 of us. We, as a family, cannot express in words what Highview Terrace means to us, except we love the staff and residents.
We can drop in anytime and feel welcome and comfortable to be there. The staff have been loving and caring. The residents are well taken care of personally and mentally. My greatest attribute to this is their happiness and healthy attitudes when we are there. I personally thank God everyday for putting me in Paris, IL in 1975, when I didn't want to move here. Highview Terrace has been wonderful for our son and for peace of mind for our family. I would be have to talk to any parent or family member that would be interested or have any questions on the group homes.
Sincerely,
Howard and Sandy Shanks

A Wonderful Life For Katie
My daughter, Katie Kay, will soon be 27 years old. She has Cerebral Palsy and is mentally retarded. She graduated from Moline High School in 2001 ...now what? Katie needed a life, one that included work, a safe place to live, friends, and a chance to grow socially and emotionally. Work needed to be in a sheltered workshop or with a constant job coach. Then God touched me on the shoulder while 1 was visiting Plonka Terrace in Galesburg, Illinois. One of my best friends from high school walked in; she worked at Plonka. I needed no better recommendation. The staff  were kind, caring, and very patient, showing great respect and understanding to the residents.
Over the past six years Katie's environment has given her opportunities I didn't think possible. She goes to work every day, not only at a workshop but has had many experiences working and volunteering in the community. She participates in numerous social activities, too many to name. Among her favorites are church, dances, and vacations with her house. She comes home on visits and family vacations but often is too busy with her friends and their activities at her "home." Katie is very happy, and we know, no matter what happens to us, she will be loved and taken care of.

My brother, Tom, has lived at Walsh Terrace in Galesburg for over 20 years.  He was able to “move up” to this facility from St. Mary’s Square as he was taught the levels of skill necessary to live in a group home.  All we can say is a bountiful thanks for all of the efforts of the staff at St. Mary’s and to Tom who made this happen because Tom didn’t just move to a group home-he moved home.
His Walsh Terrace home is warm and inviting and beautifully cared for.  The staff is equally warm and inviting, and caring.  Their commitment to the residents is evident in their interactions and guidance encouraging independence with a watchful eye.  The longevity of the staff is further evidence of their commitment to this community of special needs loved ones.
Tom loves to come and visit family members in their homes but we always return him to his home with a peaceful and grateful heart.

I just want to commend Ben Strong and the staff at Ryan Court for the wonderful care given  to Jay  each and every day.   I can not say enough about some of your caregivers.  They deserve a Hugh recognition for their dedication, Love and Hard Work they have done.   Ben,  Cheryl,  Lynn,  and Rochelle  I especially want to Thank so much, plus the two people that are no longer with the company (being Chuck and Todd).   Everyone  has worked  together to make Ryan Court exactly what it is and has been in the past years.  It takes a lot of team work to make it run like it should and they have had it at Ryan Court.  A lot of changes I will say,  but it continues to be strong for what really matters and that of course is the people that live there, day in and day out.  It is their home!  It is Jays home and that is the most important thing to me.  If there ever is an issue, it is addressed and taken care of as soon as possible.  Recently they took a trip to Adventureland and the staff that went along from Ryan Court had some really strong comments about Ben Strong helping out So Much with Jay.  One night they all went swimming and  when Ben got in, he took Jay by the hand out into the water to swim and splash around and if you know Jay, you know that takes some doing!    Ben was there to help out when Jay needed to use the restroom and there to help feed him.  They all got their picture taken and he was there to help on that as well, along with Cheryl and Lynn from Ryan Court.  These people that joined the trip from Our Home tried their hardest to make this a great trip for everyone and I believe  that happened.  Thank you so much!  This only a small part of what I could say.   On a Tuesday, my Husband Rick and I met Georgia Daugherty when we went to another home to leave clothing.   We told her how much we would like to see Jay here in Galesburg instead of  in Sterling.  She said that there was another family with a child here that wanted him with them in Sterling, but there had been no place for him there.   Within the week I received word that Jay would be able to come to Ryan Court to live and it was only a few days later we moved him.  God has lead us so many times and this was definitely one of those times.
Thanks again!
Rick and Jo Placher,
Parents of Jay Michael Reed
